GET ACTIVE, GET INVOLVED!
Now that school is out, it’s easy to want to stay inside, but we want the youth to avoid staying in all summer. We want to encourage youth and their families to stay active, and we want to encourage them to not only get out but also be involved.
The theme for June, picked by the Youth Team, is “Community.” Community can be your friends, family, neighbors, or even your fellow Tribal members. We want our youth to stay active and get out, and while they do this, they can also attend events in their own communities.
Always keep an eye out for events happening near you. These can be sporting events, holiday events, or even Tribal events. This helps youth to get out and helps them practice their own social skills. Community is important.
Here are some ways to stay active this summer:
- Go to a park near you (bonus if there’s a basketball or pickleball court).
- Go hiking (it doesn’t have to be long).
- Go swimming! Lake, community pool, whatever. Find what is available near you.
- Start your own garden or help someone else with their garden.
Remember to stay hydrated when doing any physical activity!
