STRONG MINDS
Tuncuxar: Paiute for “strong” (pronunciation: toon-coohkk-ahd)
As we enter March, the PITU Youth Team wants to highlight the importance of having a strong mind. It’s great to be mentally strong. By having a strong mind, your mental health can improve and also help you progress with academics. A strong mind isn’t only how smart you are but also how you carry yourself. Becoming mentally strong means that you want to keep growing and move forward rather than focusing on obstacles in the way.
Ways to maintain a strong mind:
- Set realistic and achievable goals and learn to accept that failure can be a path to success.
- Stay connected to your family and culture; this will help keep your spirit and mentality uplifted.
- Practice positive self-talk.
- Promote emotional awareness, use mindfulness, and grounding techniques to regulate your emotions.
- Do puzzles, read, and practice your own problem-solving skills!
If you have questions about any of these tips, reach out to the Youth Team, 435-586-1112.
