Restoration Day

After a wrongful termination in 1954, the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah (or Tribe), received the rightful restoration of their Federal Recognition on April 3, 1980, by an act of Congress (25 U.S.C. § 761). The Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah Restoration Act restored the federal trust relationship to the Tribe, and established the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah as the federally recognized Tribe comprised of five constituent bands (Cedar, Indian Peaks, Kanosh, Koosharem, and Shivwits).
