On the late afternoon of Thursday, July 31st, the Monroe Fire impacted Koosharem Tribal lands. Retardant was dropped just west (upslope) of the RV Park structure, which helped protect it from damage. While the RV Park was spared, approximately 65% of our tribal lands to the north were affected by the fire. Since then, firefighters have worked tirelessly in that area, and no further growth has occurred on our lands.
The fire as a whole is now 62,719 acres and 13% contained, with over 1,500 personnel managing the fire.
We are deeply grateful for the crews who have worked to protect the RV park and pray for their continued safety. Thank you to the Tribal community for your prayers, thoughts, and support. There is no doubt they have made a difference.
