Animal Services Professional Development Coursework*

1. Four scholarships each year for the following:

a. Principles of Contemporary Animal Services Certificate ($699 each) – offered twice a year and upon completion is equal to 3 credits applicable to SUU degrees

2. Four scholarships each year to the following:

a. Micro-credential animal services courses – offered twice a year and upon completion, the trio of courses is equal to 3 credits applicable to SUU degrees

i. Dog Lifesaving Course ($233 value each)

ii. Cat Lifesaving Course ($233 value each)

iii. Studies in Contemporary Animal Services – in development ($233 value each)

*All professional development courses are subject to change as per Best Friends Animal Society’s MOU with Southern Utah University.

Animal Services Focused Online General Studies Bachelor’s Degree

1. A total of five scholarships for the following:

a. Southern Utah University Online General Studies bachelor’s degree with a focus in Animal Services, offered annually ($12,000 value)

b. One scholarship will be awarded each year. Recipients will have a reasonable period of time to finish the degree with the tuition waiver.

c. Credits earned by completing Animal Services professional certificates (listed above) can be applied as electives toward this bachelor’s degree

d. At the time of the award of the scholarship, the recipient should either work or plan to work with animals directly for the Paiute tribe or with an animal welfare nonprofit or other organization who is supporting the tribe in this way.

Annual scholarship opportunity details

· Apply through Best Friends Contemporary Animal Services Scholarship application by March 28, 2023. Award recipients will be announced Friday, March 31, 2023.

· Must be accepted to Southern Utah University

· Agree to and sign a Best Friends Animal Society scholarship/tuition waiver agreement

· Sign publicity and release waiver
