HEALTHY HEARTS, STRONG FUTURES

As we go into February, the PITU Youth Team is planning on focusing on our hearts — not just the ones that keep us alive but the hearts that hold our feelings, values, and connections to family and community.

A healthy heart means caring for our emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. When we take care of ourselves, we also help take care of each other. For our youth, learning healthy ways to cope with stress, emotions, and challenges helps prevent harmful behaviors and builds confidence and resilience. For families, it’s a reminder that spending time together, talking openly, and supporting each other strengthens the whole community.

Our ancestors taught us that wellness is about balance. This coming month, let’s honor that teaching by choosing habits that help our hearts stay strong for today and the generations to come.

Healthy Heart Tips:

· Share your thoughts and feelings with trusted relatives or elders.

· Move your body in ways you enjoy, such as dancing, walking or helping others.

· Eat nourishing foods and drink water, including traditional foods that strengthen your body and spirit.

· Take quiet moments to breathe, rest, pray, and reflect.

· Stay connected to family, culture, and community by gathering, and don’t forget our upcoming round dance is a chance for music, movement, and togetherness.
