GET OUTSIDE, BUT TAKE CARE

Patient Outreach loves to promote movement. If you’re going to be outside this summer here are a few tips we’d like to share with you. Think of sunscreen and water as part of your essentials while outside. Be prepared for outdoor activity, so don’t head out without protecting your skin and hydrating your body.

SPF 30+ before starting outdoor activities is a great place to start. However you decide to spend your fun in the sun, whether that’s hiking, sports, working, or hanging out with friends or family, your skin is putting in the work. So take care of your skin too. Add a cool hat and some sunglasses while in the sun as another way to protect your skin, find shade outdoors when you can, or use an umbrella in direct sunlight.

Drinking water before your get thirsty is also a simple way to stay prepared for the heat and the sun. Pack a water bottle that you can take with you on your outdoor adventures that you can sip on periodically throughout the day. If you start sweating a lot think about packing some electrolyte packets with you also.

Have fun and stay safe.
