THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL INTERACTION
When people think about brain health, they often think about exercise or healthy foods. Did you know one of the strongest protective factors is much simpler?
Research shows that regular social interaction may help support memory, thinking skills, and emotional well-being as we begin to age. Spending time with family, friends and community keeps our minds engaged. Connection can look different for everyone, including calling a family member, sharing a meal with a friends, or participating in community events.
Connection has always been important in native communities. Gathering together, sharing knowledge and supporting one another builds us up as individuals as well as communities. A simple conversation, visit or check in can make a meaningful difference.
Looking for a way to connect with your friends and family at the Tribe? Come out to the Water Aerobics on Monday nights this month, starting June 8. See the PITU events calendar for more information.
