TIS THE SEASON (FLU SEASON, THAT IS).

As the weather cools down, cold and flu season picks up. Here are some tips on how to prepare and know when you need to see us at the clinic.

Stay prepared. Wash your hands often, and keep tissues, hand sanitizer, and a thermometer at homes. Drink plenty of water and rest well to keep your immune system strong.

Get your flu shot. It’s one of the best ways to protect yourself and those around you.

Most cold and mild flu symptoms – such as runny nose, mild cough or sore throat, low grade fever, fatigue and body aches – can be managed at home. Rest, hydrate, and use over-the-counter remedies as needed.

Seek care at your local clinic if you have a fever over 102 that doesn’t improve over three to five days or if you have trouble breathing, severe sore throat, ear pain, or other symptoms that last longer than 10 days or get worse instead of better.

For young children, elders, or people with diabetes, asthma or heart issues, don’t wait if your symptoms seem severe.
