So, what exactly is a migraine? A migraine is a severe headache that can last anywhere from four to 72 hours if not treated. Migraines are a bit more intense and than a regular headache and can include additional symptoms like nausea, sensitivity to light, and visual disturbances. About one-third of people who get migraines can predict an upcoming one through visual signals called “aura.” Triggers for migraines often include stress, anxiety, hormonal shifts, bright or flashing lights, not eating enough, lack of sleep, and certain foods or substances in your diet.
