HONORING LIFE, HEALING TOGETHER
September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month—a time to honor those we’ve lost, uplift those who are struggling, and strengthen the bonds that keep our communities resilient.
Suicide deeply impacts Native communities—but healing is possible, and no one must walk alone.
If you’re struggling:
- Talk to someone you trust.
- Call the Behavioral Health team at FourPoints Health or visit FourPointsHealth.org – we have great resources and trained counselors.
- Call or text the 988 Crisis Line for 24/7 support – it’s free and confidential. You can also chat online at 988lifeline.org.
- Reconnect with your culture—it can be a powerful source of strength. Ceremonies, storytelling, and traditional practices help build identity and resilience.
If you’re worried about someone:
- Ask directly and listen with care.
- Stay with them and help connect them with support. Call 988 or go with them to the nearest hospital emergency department where they can be assessed, kept safe, and receive help.
Let’s honor life, support one another, and build hope through connection, culture, and compassion.
“We are not defined by what we endure, but by how we rise.” — Native Proverb
“Too’Veets Souee’yea Neng’Woo’Kain” – Paiute for “Happy to be alive!”
