SPREAD GOOD CHEER!

Mark Twain is credited with saying, “The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.“

Did you know that there is a National Cheer Up the Lonely Day? Although it has already passed this year (it was on July 11), any day could be your day to spread cheer. Loneliness can be caused by health issues, financial troubles, or grief from loss, and it can be very overwhelming. This day serves as a reminder to all of us that everyone needs a little extra love and attention, especially those who are alone or feel like they don’t fit in.

Whether it’s a close friend, family member, old neighbor, new classmate, parent, child, or anybody else in your life, if you know someone who is lonely or going through a tough time, surprise them today by visiting them, sharing a hug, or organizing a get-together to help them feel better and spread the spirit of friendship!

A small act of kindness can make a big difference, and as Mark Twain shared, it is a great way to cheer yourself up. Use this day to also express gratitude to anyone who’s ever reached out to you while you were struggling. Gratitude is another great way to boost your mood.

If you or someone you know need extra help or support, please contact a mental health professional.  FourPoints Health has some great licensed counselors who would love to help. Just give one of our clinics a call and ask for Behavioral Health.
