To help make sure your holidays don’t go from merry to scary, the Family Services Department is bringing you Twelve Holiday Safety Tips.
Winter is when most home fires happen, and home heating is the second leading cause of house fires in the United States. When the holidays come around and you add flammable decorations, additional power cords, and overloaded outlets (not to mention a giant tree that can quickly turn to kindling if you forget to water it), you create a recipe that’s even worse than the fruitcake your family keeps trying to pawn off on you.

And as a bonus tip, don’t give out any personal information over the phone or to anyone you don’t know this holiday season.
