THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTION.
During the month of July, Family Services continues to focus on prevention by strengthening families before a crisis occurs. Prevention means helping families access resources, education, and support that reduce stress and increase stability. Through outreach, case management, referrals, and emergency assistance, families are connected to services that promote safe, healthy, and nurturing home environments. By addressing challenges early, Family Services helps prevent child abuse and neglect, homelessness, domestic violence, and other circumstances that may place children and families at risk.
July also provides an opportunity to promote healthy family relationships during the summer months when children are out of school and families often spend more time together. Family Services encourages parents and caregivers to participate in positive activities with their children, maintain safe supervision, and utilize available community resources when assistance is needed. Through the Puow’wan Program, the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah remains committed to keeping families together whenever safely possible by providing culturally responsive support, wraparound services, advocacy, and prevention-focused programming that strengthens the entire family.
