DATING VIOLENCE AWARENESS
Following up on last week’s Every Friday post from FourPoints Behavioral Health, this week’s post from PITU Family Services is focusing on dating violence, especially with teenagers.
Did you know that 23.4% of Utah high school students report verbal or emotional abuse from a partner before the age of 18? Additionally, a third of teens will experience physical or sexual abuse by someone they are in a relationship with by the age of 18.
Here are a few warning signs:
• Controlling behavior, such as checking cell phones, email, or social networks without permission.
• Isolation from family and friends.
• Repeated pressure to have sex.
