DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS

Next month is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and as part of the efforts to bring attention to the high rates of violence experienced by American Indian and Alaska Native women, PITU Family Service will be hosting a Domestic Violence Awareness Walk in October. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for a flyer with more details.

Studies show:

  • Over 56% have experienced sexual violence.
  • Over 55% have experienced intimate partner violence.
  • Nearly half have experienced stalking.
  • At least 2 in 3 have experienced psychological aggression by an intimate partner.
  • Of the 1.5 million Native women who have experienced violence, 97% was committed by a non-Native perpetrator.
