Elissa Aguayo, daughter of Rebecca Hill, granddaughter of Elizabeth & Robert Pete Sr., was crowned as 1st Attendant at the Miss Native Utah Tech in November.
Elissa is an enrolled member of the Shivwits Band. For her talent, she chose to proudly represent PITU’s language by reciting the book, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” in Paiute. Elissa said, “For my traditional talent, I chose it because my grandma helped me learn the language. I’m doing it because I think it’s important to know the language, and it’s something that is also becoming less and less [common] within the tribe.”
The Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah congratulates Elissa on this exciting accomplishment. We love seeing our Tribe represented well, and look forward to all Elissa accomplishes while serving as 1st Attendant.
