The deer serves as one of the honored four-legged beings among the Southern Paiutes. The deer is used as food, clothing, medicine, and ceremonial purposes. Southern Paiute Bands pride themselves on their band specific roles in hunting as well how a deer is processed.
Good luck to our hunters this season! Please don’t forget that if this is your first hunt, give some of your meat to one of your band elders. This is a traditional practice to ensure you will always be a good and fruitful hunter.
