Deer – Tuh’ee (Click here for the pronunciation).

The deer serves as one of the honored four-legged beings amongst the Southern Paiute and is used as food, clothing, medicine, and for ceremonial purposes. Southern Paiute Bands pride themselves on their band-specific roles in hunting, as well how a deer is processed. It is recommended that members going on their first hunt give some of their meat to one of their band Elders.
