The bear is significant to the spring time as this is the time of year he awakens with the first thunder. The Bear Dance was adopted by the Pahvant Southern Paiute as they share a heritage with the Utes. One of the last locations a southern Paiute Bear Dance was held was in the Fish Lake area.
