Everson is the Native Youth Program coordinator. He has been with PITU since May 2022 and says he truly enjoys working with the youth on various cultural activities and enrich their understanding and appreciation of diverse traditions. “These initiatives not only help in preserving cultural heritage but also foster a sense of community and belonging among the young participants.”

Everson has lived in Utah for about seven years. He is Diné and Ashiwi but grew up on the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe. He enjoys hiking, kayaking, fishing, shooting, and hunting. A lesson the Native Youth Program teaches the kids is the importance of staying active, and Everson says he makes it a priority to hit the gym regularly. You also might have seen him dancing at pow-wows and participating in ceremonies.

Everson says he also cherishes spending quality time with his 8-year-old son. “His name is Nokosi, which means ‘Bear’ in the Seminole language. He’s also part Seminole/Paiute on his mother’s side, which makes his name all the more special to us.”

Thank you, Everson. The youth are in good hands.
