On Wednesday, Oct. 9, FourPoints Health Director LaTosha Mayo was recognized with the Transformational Leadership Award at the One Utah Summit.

Stephen Lisonbee, who serves as Senior Advisor for Rural Affairs for Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox as well as the Assistant Vice President of the Office of Regional Services at Southern Utah University, said that a “transformational leader” does more than just sending emails or managing from a to-do list.

“Transformational leaders are those who go out in the field and sit with the employee and say, ‘Show me the process. I want to understand how it works for you,’ and then goes back to the team of supervisors and says, ‘I had this experience … We’re going to transform how we do business and inspire our employees to be more successful.'”

John Michael Fabrizi, president of Coalatree – Eco Minded Goods, identified the five traits of a good leader as being driven by the success of others, knowing themselves truthfully, controlling their ego and emotions, creating a safe environment, and having a clear vision.

Jeremy Hafen, president and CEO of Clyde Companies Inc., also spoke of vision and how a good leader recognizes the importance of doing things for the greater good and for their community.

Transformational leaders elevate those around them and build our communities for a better tomorrow. Our rural communities are fortunate to have LaTosha on our side. Congratulations LaTosha, on this well-deserved accomplishment.
