2025 Election Dates

Tribal Council shall appoint an election board of three (3) or more persons and shall certify in writing to the Tribal Council within five (5) business days after election the results of any election.

No later than Friday, Jan. 3, 2025

NOMINATION MEETING: Each Band shall schedule a nomination meeting and email the meeting date, time, and place to the Election Board (elections@utahpaiutes.org) within twenty-four (24) hours, so it can be posted on the Tribe’s website.

CURRENT NOMINATION MEETING DATES ARE POSTED BELOW UNDER THE “BAND NOMINATION MEETINGS” TAB.

NOMINEE INFORMATION: Please complete the Nominee Information Form by Dec. 27, 2024, and pay your background check processing fee. You will then receive an email from NationSearch with information about how to complete your background check online. This must be completed by Jan. 3, 2025.

Certification of Nominee Qualifications, per the PITU Constitution: Authorization for Background Check form must be filled out the day of the nomination meeting and background fee paid in full within seven (7) days of the nomination meeting. The Election Board shall complete a background check within twenty (20) days of receipt of form. A person who is certified as ineligible by the Election Board has fifteen (15) days to petition to the Board, and the Tribal Council has ten (10) days for final decision — or if there is a need for a primary election, ten (10) days prior to the primary election.

Primary Election (if more than five candidates): Held at least twenty (20) days prior to the Tribal Council/Band Chair Election.

Tribal Council/Band Chair Election: Held during the second week in March.

Thursday, April 3, 2025

New Tribal Council sworn into office.

Wednesday, April 23, 2025

Tribal Chair Election: Within twenty (20) days after Council swearing in. 

Update Your Contact Information

The Election Board is requesting that all eligible PITU voters make sure their contact information is up to date with the PITU Enrollment Officer BY MONDAY, FEB. 3, in order to receive your ballot for the following elections:

  • Thursday, March 13, 2025: Tribal Council Member/Band Chair Election
  • Wednesday, April 23, 2025: Tribal Chair Election

INDIAN PEAKS BAND:
Time: Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at 6 p.m.

KANOSH BAND:
Time: Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, at 10 a.m.
Location: Kanosh Band Building, 155 Reservation Road, Kanosh, UT 84637

KOOSHAREM BAND:
Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at 3 p.m.
Location: Zoom (link will be emailed on Sunday, Nov. 3) and in-person at Koosharem Band Building, 799 North Paiute Way, Richfield, UT 84701

SHIVWITS BAND:
Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at 11 a.m.
